HCR Prosthetics Starter Kit

The HCR Prosthetics Starter Kit brings together the silicone, pigments, processing materials, tools, and educational resources needed to get started creating prosthetic applications with High Consistency Rubber (HCR) silicone.

Unlike flowable RTV silicones, HCR is a thick, clay-like silicone that can be milled into sheets, shaped and formed directly over a prepared model, and then heat cured to produce a strong, durable silicone elastomer.

The kit includes both A-4530-HCRA 30 Shore A and A-4550-HCRA 50 Shore A silicone. These compatible HCRA formulations can be blended together in varying ratios to adjust the final durometer between 30 and 50 Shore A, providing greater flexibility when creating prostheses with different softness and support requirements. The individual HCRA systems are two-part, platinum-catalyzed silicones supplied at a 1:1 Part A to Part B mix ratio.

Also included are extrinsic and skin-tone pigments, processing and mold-preparation materials, a digital scale, pinwheel roller, spatula, roller care products, and solvents used throughout the HCR fabrication process. The kit includes a complimentary copy of High Consistency Silicone Rubber: An Introductory Handbook on Fabrication, which walks through preparation, pigmenting, milling, forming, oven curing, demolding, and finishing.

Additional Equipment Required: A two-roll mill and curing oven are required for complete HCR processing and are sold separately. These are both primary equipment for HCR fabrication.

This kit provides the core materials, tools, coloration options, and instruction needed to begin working with HCR silicone, with the added flexibility of customizing silicone hardness between 30 and 50 Shore A for different prosthetic applications.
